Over the years, Girl Guides has been a very popular Co-Curricular Activities (CCA) in the local school environment and GGS' membership has been enjoying healthy growth.

Girl Guides Singapore (GGS) will be starting a new Open Unit at Guide House, effective 2005. This is to cater to students in the Integrated Programme Schools and those receiving home-based education as well as those in schools where Guiding is not provided for as a CCA or where there is no vacancy in the existing Girl Guide Units. This arrangement is, of course, based on the endorsement of principals concerned.

GGS' aim is to provide girls with the opportunity for self-training in the development of character, in the realization of responsible citizenship and promotion of service to the community. In the spirit of Guiding, membership is open to all and voluntarily so. GGS would like to provide the opportunity for any girls interested in the Movement to participate in the Guiding experience.

The Co-Curricular Activities Branch (CCAB) of the Ministry of Education (MOE) has confirmed that members of the Open Unit will be eligible for the award of CCA points.
